IPv6 Ready SRv6 Logo Certification Specification Released, Promoting IPv6 Network Technology to New Heights

Recently, the IPv6 Ready Logo Committee of the Global IPv6 Forum (IPv6 Forum) officially released the IPv6 Ready SRv6 Logo Certification Conformance Test Specification, marking an important step in standardizing IPv6 network technology. The specification provides the market with a reliable basis for technical evaluation, helping equipment manufacturers verify the compliance of their products, while avoiding technical risks for service providers and enterprise users, and accelerating IPv6 network deployment and innovation.

IPv6 Ready SRv6 Logo Certification: A Milestone in IPv6 Network Technology Standardization

IPv6 Ready Logo Certification is an authoritative certification program launched by the Global IPv6 Forum to verify that network equipment and products comply with the IPv6 protocol standard and to ensure their protocol conformance and interoperability in real-world applications. The released specification focuses on SRv6 technology. Compared with traditional MPLS or IP routing, SRv6 technology directly embeds routing information through IPv6 extension header, eliminating the need for intermediate nodes to maintain the label forwarding table and significantly reducing network complexity; meets the personalized requirements of different services in terms of bandwidth, latency, security and other characteristics through rich SID functions; supports higher-level packet authentication and It supports higher-level packet authentication and security policy implementation, provides end-to-end path protection and multi-path forwarding, and supports multiple data plane encryption technologies, which enhances the network's ability to resist attacks and provides higher security for network communications. These features are in line with the demand for low-latency and highly reliable traffic scheduling in 5G, cloud services and the Internet of Things (IoT), and provide the underlying technical support for emerging scenarios such as network slicing and service chaining orchestration. As an extended protocol certification for the core protocol, this certification will promote the standardization and commercialization of SRv6 technology, providing a guarantee for the upgrade and optimization of global network infrastructure.

Test Specification: Comprehensive Coverage of SRv6 Core Functions

The test specification released this time covers the core functions and application scenarios of SRv6 technology, including the processing of SRH, and verifies the equipment's support for segment lists, labels and extended fields. The specification also verifies the performance of the device in terms of security, including HMAC validation and Flow Label processing, to ensure the security and reliability of network transmission. In addition, the specification addresses path MTU management, verifying path MTU adjustment capabilities to ensure efficient and stable network transmission. Finally, the specification also validates the format and behavior of SIDs, including advanced features such as L3 cross connects (End.X) and specific IPv6 table lookups (End.T), to support new application scenarios such as network slicing and service chaining orchestration.

Driving Industry Innovation and Interoperability

The certification provides equipment manufacturers with a standard for development validation, which in turn provides users with a basis for more reliable equipment. Certified products will enable seamless interoperability on a global scale, laying the foundation for building the next-generation Internet infrastructure. The launch of the IPv6 Ready SRv6 Logo certification is an important milestone in the development of IPv6 technology,” said Latif Ladid, Chairman of the Global IPv6 Forum. It will promote the widespread application of SRv6 technology worldwide and provide network operators and service providers with more efficient and flexible network solutions.”
