The IPv6 Forum, an international technology and industry consortium launched in Europe on July 17, 1999, is committed to promoting IPv6 worldwide. It is the most influential and broadest non-profit international organization in the IPv6 industry. The Forum works closely with the IETF to provide operational guidelines for facilitating the actual deployment of IPv6. By establishing secure and complete IPv6 Internet, people all over the world will have the opportunity to access and embrace new knowledge and technologies equitably, which serves as global social responsibility for the forum. The IPv6 Forum has set up branches in more than 70 countries and regions such as the United States, Canada, Australia and Brazil and has made significant contributions to promoting the global IPv6 development.

In his interview, vice president Liu Dong said that as a large Internet country, promoting the large-scale deployment of the next generation Internet of IPv6 has become one of the important measures for our country to step into a network power and will bring a series of profound influences on the development of cyberspace in China. With the Action Plan of Promoting the Deployment of the Sixth Edition of the Internet Protocol (IPv6) printed and issued by the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council by the end of 2017, China will enter the crucial period of all-round development of IPv6 and will assume even greater responsibility in the next generation Internet field.

Liu Dong’s appointment as vice president of the IPv6 Forum, on the one hand, affirmed many contributions made by Liu Dong and his team in the field of IPv6 in the past ten years, including participating in the formulation of IPv6 related standards, constructing and operating global IPv6 test center, one of the world's three major IPv6 test laboratories, leading the team to initiate and promote the IPv6 root server system research and so on. On the other hand, it is the recognition by the IPv6 international community of the development of the next generation Internet in our country. Latif Ladid, president of the IPv6 Forum, said that China will play an especially important leadership role in the overall development of the IPv6. The appointment of Vice Chairman Liu Dong will accelerate the process of stepping into the IPv6 era globally.

It is learned that to help promote the next generation Internet deployment, BII Group will jointly hold the "Global IPv6 Summit and Internet Infrastructure Forum" in April 2018 and invite the next generation world's top experts and industry leaders in the field to fully demonstrate the achievements of the next generation Internet construction and applications, deepen the exchange and explore the collaboration among all countries to jointly promote the development of the next generation internet in the world.
